RP Experience: Oh goodness. I've been roleplaying for years ~_~ Modded two games, played in multiple others of various fandoms. My biggest was Hearts of Paradise (a Kingdom Hearts forum roleplay from 2001 to 2007), and for LJ I was in Toujours Hotel, Malaise House, Final Hearts High, Spiral, and am currently in Luceti. I also do a lot of indie stuff on private communities and AIM. I'm well-rounded, you could say? I've played Simon mostly in independent roleplays, though I do play a 7 year old version over at Luceti right now.

Name: Simon Jiha
Series/Fandom: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexuality: I usually say my characters are bi, mostly too keep options open since you never know what will happen. In Simon's case it's kind if canon considering how close he is with both Kamina and Nia, so that is how I plan to play him.
Student or Faculty Member/Professor: Student
Major: Archeology
Minor: Geology
Residence: Off-campus apartment with his roommate, Kamina (pre-arranged with Kamina-mun)
Occupation: He and Kaminagattai'd formed their own little rock band. It doesn't generate much cash but they have fun with it. Said band is of course called the Gurren Brigade, because with Simon and Kamina what else would it be?
Appearance:
First of all, Simon is tall. He was a bit undersized for years until he hit a grand growth spurt and rose to around six feet. He has dark blue hair and eyes, and pale skin. He generally likes to wear his clothes in layers (ie. a jacket over his shirt, hipster belts, sometimes a scarf or something) mostly to keep his appearance unique, and said clothes are kind of baggy for easy movement. His physique is slim, but he has a decent muscle build in his arms. More often than not you'd catch him with well-loved red goggles on his head. Another thing to note: it's usually not visible, but he has a small red star-shaped tattoo on his left hip.
Most important to him is a little drill-shaped necklace he always wears, either under or over his clothes, depending on his mood.
Personality:
Simon is pretty difficult to sum up. On the surface he's something of a kid still - young, occasionally immature, and indecisive in that he's not sure what to do with himself half the time. Still, his care for those he knows is unmatched, and he has an incredible ability to forgive those who have wronged him. Simon is a leader, but not necessarily at heart; he's great at inspiring people to act due to Kamina's encouragement, but he feels lost in situations where he's on his own. He's also not hard to influence, particularly by those he admires. Losing the people he cares about can devastate him. He's easily depressed, but also easily tugged back into a good mood. He could be called bipolar in a sense, but he's not that sporadic - everything he feels, he feels for good reason.
History:
Simon was born in a little sub-division of nowhere land - if asked he honestly can't give a good answer. His parents, both traveling archeologists, raised and homeschooled him on the road until they died in an accident when he was seven. He spent the rest of his youth in a little orphanage not far from Lindell, supported by his parents' trust funds for the most part.
Being a shy kid at heart, he didn't have many friends, which is where Kamina comes in. The elder boy took it upon himself to look after Simon, helping him see the fun and rowdy side of life (and more often than not the delinquent side, too) and teaching Simon that it was okay to let loose and fight the powah. Because of this Simon not only views Kamina as his best and closest friend, but also someone to look up to for, while not the wisest kind of advice, usually the kind that brings a smile and a fair bit of confidence to everyone involved.
During his years growing up with Kamina, Simon learned to play the guitar; Kamina's dad was a traveling musician so it's basically Kamina's passion. He taught Simon how to play, and while Kamina focuses on the louder bits, Simon enjoys the quiet ballad-esque songs. (This seems kind of inconsequencial to mention, but it's become part of their characters ^^) Simon also learned not to be bothered by a complete lack of personal space, since there's no such thing as a bubble of privacy to Kamina. We don't have much justification for the whole rock and roll gig besides the fact that it sounded fun, but I think with no big mecha battles to fight, Kamina would go for some kind of loud and seemingly rebellious hobby, and Simon would naturally follow his lead no matter what he chose.
Relationship-wise, Simon didn't do much dating up until high school. He fell in love with a girl about midway through, and the relationship was pretty serious until her disappearance (and assumed death) during third year. Because of that loss, Simon fell into enough of a funk to bring Kamina to the rescue - his BFF left university in order to keep Simon afloat until graduation, when they both decided to attend Evergrove together. Currently, Simon is 18.
As an aside: Technically the girl Simon loved is Nia, but I'm not naming anyone in case a player comes along.
Also, random fact: Simon and Kamina have a guinea pig named Boota. :3 (He may or may not wear sunglasses on occasion.)
